Adventures and Misadventures in Kigali

We're sitting in Amahoro National Stadium watching a track meet. It's high school, I think– we wandered in off the street when we heard the rumble of an announcer.

It's at least 80 degrees out and this event is a 10k– more than twenty laps. The lead runner in the orange pinney has lapped her second place competitor, but the race is still impressive: we've been taking split times, and the slowest runner is hitting eight minute miles.

The woman in orange makes 90-second laps every time, a six minute mile pace.
